What is it about Fridays?

What is it about Fridays? Originally Friday meetings were a simple affair we fondly called a “pow wow”. It was a simple check in about the applications we process. Who had turned one in on time and whom we had to nudge to get one, how many initial applications we have to process. Normally took about fifteen minutes and was a three person meeting. Should be no big deal but then we added a supervisor and a list of problem providers and another co-worker, then another two bosses and it … Continue reading

What will today be like?

I have coffee. I am thinking I will want more today. I think this will be a very busy day and the extra boost will do me some good. Today’s list will likely go something like this… Hit the doors to the building up to my office to check email respond and take down the mail while picking up yesterdays mail. Date stamp and begin flipping pages for screenings email those who as usual missed stuff. Make copious notes on the database about everything and shuffle it all out of … Continue reading

Hooked on Buses

I am hooked….hooked on several things really. I reset my tablet and its working ok again; reading on the bus is fun as is writing. I’ve just spent an enjoyable hour reading missed blog posts via a little offline app called Pocket. Now I’m spending the last few minutes of the ride writing. Frequently I enjoy reading, chatting, games, or writing while on my regular ride to and from work. There are days I even take a nap. This is a complex little project requiring data to be pulled from a Reports Manager, a lot of Excel formatting and tweaking and then the final conversion process to … Continue reading

Marketing Idea….

Very cool marketing idea… I let someone go in front of me at Costco since he only had 2 huge things of Styrofoam to go boxes…. before he left he ducked back to hand me a business card which was also a coupon for his restaurant… turns out the kindness I did in Costco was to one of the owners… but the coupon/business card for a kindness was a VERY good marketing trick. The next time I’m at the mall I’ll be looking for that restaurant for sure. Thought I’d … Continue reading

I am THE clerical support for a team of 15 professionals with 2 I’m a “Team Lead” for at the State Of Alaska. Within my functions, which morph daily sometimes, I have become known as the person to go to with questions on Office 2007 or for ideas on how to build a temporary system to track something for a Performance Measure for the Federal Government. I work in Quality Assurance and now love every minute… every single frustrating minute of what I do… when I actually get to do … Continue reading
